We are Mike, Alison, and Croix and we adore adventuring through life together. It’s been about 16 years since we eloped to the Island of St. Kitts where we said our vows on a black sand beach under a canopy of palm trees. Life together has been a journey of unexpected surprises, beautiful souls, breathtaking adventures, and filming lots of authentic love stories. We are huge fans of love and we are huge fans of weddings, whether they are small and intimate or grand and elaborate.
We began photographing weddings many years ago but we fell in love with filming them even more. Instead of a still image, we had a way of retelling the story with moving pictures, hearing the vows, feeling the emotion, and incorporating music that matched the feeling of the day. No longer was it just a single photo. Now we could see and feel the entire moment. It didn’t take long for us to move over completely to filming weddings and we’ve been doing so all over the country for over six years.
Our travel addiction began long before Ali found a 1972 pop-up camper on Craigslist for $700, but our extended travel adventures are a direct result of that amazing find. We used that camper so much that we wore out the seams and woke up one morning practically swimming in our beds after a Florida rain storm. I suppose you could say we are based in Ohio, but that is only partially true. Six months (or more) out of the year, you'll find us traveling the country in our slightly newer camper, filming, photographing and adventuring along the way. The travel life fits us so well that we sold our home a couple of years ago so that we could work, explore, and experience life from new and changing locations.
We have an adventurous 8-year-old who has grown up exploring National Parks, hiking through mountains in Utah, California, Colorado, and New Mexico, kayaking in the Florida Keys, and riding donkeys in Mexico. He’s constantly reminding us that life is short and it needs to be enjoyed, that we need to be more present, and that the moments need to be savored.
Alison also creates handmade jewelry and likes to incorporate elements we find along our journey. You can find some her creations on Instagram @wildrootscreative and you can see more of our family adventures on our personal instagram @thehappykampers
